More Carter Bartley Pictures

Here are more photos of Carter.

This is Carter and mom, looking at each other:

A very sleepy Ben and a very sleepy Carter, holding hands.

Here is Carter's first car ride: the ride home from the hospital. I think he is thinking about the safety warning on his car seat.

Here is Carter in mom's hospital bed. I call this picture, 'Big Bed, Tiny Baby'.
Here is the first family portrait of the Bartley family.

12 Days Past Due Date...

Just got back from the OB and while everything looks goooood, they aren't sure this little guy is going to come out on his own (but you still never know... I've got my fingers, toes, & eyes crossed).
We've made plans to start an induction on Wednesday morning at the hospital.
This means we should have a baby in our arms by Thursday - HOORAY!
Due to exhaustion and the need to focus inward this most likely
will be my last post until we announce the birth...
Keep those positive energy vibes coming!!!

Hanging in there but really ready to meet this little guy on the outside!

9 Days Past Due Date

Baby is still on the inside.
Headed to the OB today to check where we are in the process.
Luckily we get another ultrasound today
so hopefully we'll see his handsome face again!
Laughing lots and loving life... Hooray!

Bump Watch - Week 41 (Almost 42!)

Belly feels bigger and lower.
Staying calm and at peace with knowing I'm exactly where I need to be.
Reading a lot - *loving* the Montessori method!! OMG! It's genius!
And of course, as always, I'm having fun laughing a lot with Ben.

Patience is a Virtue...

I'm really beginning to understand why.

There's no way this baby isn't coming out... RIGHT!?!?

Happy Valentine's Day!

Still no baby on the outside. Just wanted to send an update.
We are waiting patiently...

PugPuggy's Excited to Be a Big Sister

PugPuggy has the perfect chin rest... for a little bit longer...

I almost melted the first time she did this.
It's taken us months to finally get it on camera.
Guess it was good we were sitting around watching the SuperBowl.

PugPuggy gently placing her paw on my belly... like she's communicating with Baby Bartley. She's done this multiple times but we finally caught it on camera.
So sweet!

Bump Watch: Week 40

All is well. I'm feeling gooooood! Sleeping well, laying low during the days, laughing a lot!

Bump Watch: Heading into Week 40!

Curious about how big the baby actually is? Me too!
Our midwife said today that she estimates he's around 7 pounds... we'll see soon enough!
Any day now...

Words of Wisdom: "The Law of Detachment"

In detachment lies the wisdom of uncertainty...

in the wisdom of uncertainty lies the freedom from our past,
from the known,

which is the prison of past conditioning.

And in our willingness to step into the unknown,
the field of all possibilities,

we surrender ourselves to the creative mind
that orchestrates the dance of the universe.

-"The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success" by Deepak Chopra

Words of Wisdom: From "The Prophet"

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, Speak to us of Children.

And he said:

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They came through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts,
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.

For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the Archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as he loves the arrow that flies so He loves the bow that is stable.

-from "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran
